Abstract

The optimal state of student welfare is an essential element in achieving a fruitful academic journey. College students encounter a plethora of academic and personal obstacles, ranging from adapting to unfamiliar surroundings and handling demanding academic requirements to establishing social networks and preserving their psychological well-being. This study examined the relationship between parental support, extracurricular activities, student well-being, academic achievement and college students' life values with the mediating role of coping mechanisms and moderating role of the learning environment. The study employed a cross-sectional research design and recruited a sample of 390 undergraduate students from diverse universities located in Guangxi Province. The participants were requested to complete a survey that evaluated their involvement in supplementary activities, level of support from their parents, academic achievement, state of being, methods of managing stress, and personal principles. The findings indicated a significant correlation between participation in extracurricular activities, receiving support from parents, achieving academic excellence, experiencing a sense of well-being, and embracing personal values (p<0.05). The study revealed that coping strategies act as a mediator in the association between the aforementioned variables. This suggests students who use more effective coping methods are more likely to have positive life outcomes. The classroom environment also affected extracurricular activities and well-being. Extracurricular activities benefited students in more supportive learning environments.
