Abstract

This research delves into the intricate realm of linguistic evolution by undertaking a comprehensive analysis of vocabulary dynamics between the Japanese and English languages. Language, as a living entity, constantly undergoes transformations influenced by various socio-cultural, historical, and technological factors. Understanding these shifts in vocabulary is crucial not only for linguists but also for educators, translators, and individuals navigating cross-cultural communication. The study employs a multifaceted approach to scrutinize vocabulary changes over time, utilizing corpus linguistics techniques, historical linguistics methodologies, and computational tools [1]. By examining extensive corpora spanning different periods, the research aims to identify patterns, trends, and key drivers behind lexical evolution in Japanese and English. This comparative analysis provides valuable insights into how languages adapt and respond to societal changes, contact with other languages, and advancements in technology. Through meticulous data analysis and statistical modeling, the study elucidates the frequency, usage, and semantic shifts of words in both languages. It investigates lexical borrowing, semantic extension, semantic narrowing, and other semantic changes that shape the vocabulary landscape. The research explores the cultural and historical contexts surrounding these vocabulary shifts, unraveling the interconnectedness between language and society. Furthermore, the study investigates the impact of globalization, modernization, and technological innovation on vocabulary evolution in Japanese and English. With the proliferation of digital communication platforms and the increasing interconnectedness of the world, languages are continuously enriched with new terms and expressions. By examining these linguistic phenomena, the research sheds light on how globalization influences language change and lexical diversity. Ultimately, this research contributes to our understanding of the dynamic nature of language and provides valuable insights into the mechanisms driving vocabulary changes in Japanese and English. By elucidating the intricate interplay between language, culture, and society, this study paves the way for future research in linguistic evolution and cross-cultural communication [2].
