Abstract

Indonesia today is facing a trend of change or transformation of Islamic higher education institutions from Islamic religious high schools to state Islamic religious institutes (IAIN) and from Islamic religious institutes to state Islamic universities (UIN). The aim of this research is first, to examine what core values are needed by IAIN Lhokseumawe in its transformation into UIN; and second, to know the core values model that should be applied later in the transformation of IAIN Lhokseumawe into UIN. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method. The research results show that the core values needed for IAIN Lhokseumawe in its transformation into UIN are Pasai Hiratage (Pasai Heritage) which has the values of openness, Spirit, religiosity, tolerance, glory; Acehannese values which have Islamic Sharia and Cultural values (local wisdom), Digitalization (Scientific Values), which have values, namely: Complex problem solving, Critical thinking, Creativity, People management, Coordinating with other, Emotion intelligence, Judgment and decision making, Service orientation, Negotiation, and Cognitive flexibility. The core values model that should be applied is a scientific trident. This scientific integrated trident (trident) model is an academic integration view that Islamic sciences, social-humanities, and technological sciences develop per the specific characters and objects they have, but can greet each other, meet, and relate to each other in a connected growth. This scientific integrated trident model operates not within the framework of the Islamization of science, but rather the Islamization of reason which is needed to create a complementary scientific system between Islamic sciences, social humanities, and science and technology
