Abstract

The current state of child-friendly madrasa management in Madrasah Tsanawiyah institutions (MTs) in Bandar Lampung City falls short of optimal implementation. Key deficiencies include the absence of written commitments, lacking mechanisms for addressing violence cases, insufficient teacher training in child-friendly learning methodologies, presence of discriminatory practices in teaching, comparative assessment between students, inadequate health promotion and counseling services (UKS), and limited student involvement in promoting child-friendliness within madrasas. Addressing these issues requires comprehensive research to enhance the overall child-friendly environment in madrasas. To this end, a mixed-method research approach incorporating qualitative and quantitative methodologies, employing the Design Based Research (DBR) method, was undertaken. The study was conducted across several madrasas including MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung, MTs Al-Hikmah Bandar Lampung, and MTs NU Bandar Lampung. Data collection methods included focus group discussions (FGD), interviews, observations, and documentation analysis. Data was analyzed through inductive qualitative analysis and quantitative dependent t-tests, with triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. Findings from the research revealed several key points: firstly, an identification and analysis of the need for developing a Child-Friendly Madrasah management model, highlighting existing gaps in understanding and implementation of child-friendliness. Secondly, the design of the model, encompassing input, process, output, and outcome components. Thirdly, validation of the model's development through FGD and expert validation. Fourthly, a final reflection on the model's elements including rationale, aims, sustainability assumptions, visualization, implementation steps, success indicators, and functions. Lastly, evidence of the model's effectiveness in enhancing child-friendly practices within Tsanawiyah madrasas in Bandar Lampung City. Through this comprehensive approach, the research contributes to improving child-friendly madrasa management and fostering a more inclusive educational environment.
