How Does Managerial Coaching Affect Talent Development? The Mediating Role of Subordinates’ Learning Motivation

Abstract
This study aims to explore the immediate superior on talent development through the mediating role of subordinates' learning motivation. This study collected the data form 610 immediate superior and their subordinates at agencies in governmental services in Malaysia. Bootstrapping analyses are using SMARTPLS were used to test the hypothesis. The hypothesis testing indicates that immediate superior was positively related to talent development. In addition, the study also found that subordinates' learning motivation mediated the linkage between immediate superior and talent development. This study contributes to a better understanding of how immediate superior influences talent development effects by subordinates' learning motivation as mediator. Next, the study deepens the understanding of the boundary condition of the associations between immediate superior, subordinates' learning motivation and talent development in agencies in governmental services context in Malaysia.
