Abstract

This study explores the effects of ChatGPT on the research habits of college students. As AI technologies become more integrated into academic environments, understanding their impact on how students search for, evaluate, and utilize information is essential. The research examines the ways in which students engage with ChatGPT, its effectiveness in addressing their academic needs, and the implications for critical thinking and academic integrity. Findings indicate that while ChatGPT enhances access to information and streamlines research processes, concerns regarding reliability, dependence on AI, and potential impacts on critical thinking persist. A survey distributed to 150 students yielded 142 responses, providing insights into their experiences and perceptions of using ChatGPT for academic purposes.
