Impact Of Training On Women Self Help Groups’ Performance: An Empirical Study

Abstract
Training plays a vital role in the skill development of individuals engaging in both large-scale organisations, as well as small scaled groups such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs). SHGs are groups comprising of 10-20 individuals with similar socio-economic background. Training ensures empowering and motivating group members by improving their skills and building their confidence through various innovative and productive programs. Training not only enables the group members with access to social, economic, political, educational, and technical spheres but also ensures proper utilization of their finances leading to their financial independence especially for women. With this context, the study aims to identify the training programs offered to women SHGs and to examine the impact of training in the overall performance of the WSHGs. The study is empirical in nature and is based on primary data that was gathered via survey method employing a structured interview schedule from 300 WSHGs using a multistage sampling technique.
