Main Article Content
Abstract
This research paper examines the role of social media in the development of creativity among youth. With the widespread adoption of social media platforms, young individuals are increasingly engaging with these digital tools as a means of self-expression, communication, and creativity. This study explores the impact of social media on various aspects of youth creativity, including artistic expression, innovation, collaboration, and cultural participation. Through an analysis of existing literature and empirical evidence, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the positive and negative influences of social media on youth creativity, along with recommendations for fostering a healthy and productive digital environment. The research highlights how platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube serve as potent catalysts for creativity by offering unprecedented access to diverse content, instant feedback, and collaboration opportunities. These platforms empower youth to showcase their talents, build personal brands, and engage with a global audience, fostering an environment where creativity can thrive. However, the study also reveals significant challenges, such as the pressure to conform to popular trends, the addictive nature of social media, and the potential for distraction, which can hinder creative processes. Issues such as self-doubt, comparison anxiety, and the risk of plagiarism further complicate the landscape for young creators. The findings underscore the importance of digital literacy education and the need for strategies to balance online and offline activities to maximize the positive impacts of social media on youth creativity while mitigating the negatives. Future research should focus on specific features within social media platforms that most effectively foster creativity, explore long-term impacts, and conduct comparative studies across different cultural contexts.
