Librarians’ Awareness, Acceptability, And Application Of Artificial Intelligence In Tiruppur Colleges

Abstract

In order to determine how artificial intelligence (AI) impacts library operations, the study examines the acceptance and awareness of AI in Tiruppur college libraries.  College librarians' awareness of AI technology, acceptance of its application, and present use in library operations were assessed by the researchers using surveys and questionnaires that employed descriptive and analytical methodologies. Despite the fact that most librarians are slightly too very well aware of AI, the authors found that it is not often utilized in certain domains, such as administrative work and user engagement. With its increased efficiency and user experience, artificial intelligence (AI) is widely recognized in the resource discovery and cataloguing industry. Due to a lack of financing, inadequate infrastructure, and inadequate training, this technology does not function effectively in terms of energy consumption. According to the survey, librarians who have more expertise and work for libraries with greater money are more likely to embrace AI technologies. Secondarily, AI can be positively used to resource and library management systems, as well as to the searching capabilities of libraries. The failure of businesses to provide appropriate training for certain skills presents a significant obstacle to the application of these benefits
