Psychological Variables And Pain Management In Neurodegenerative Diseases
Main Article Content
Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases represent a major public health challenge, leading to progressive degeneration of nerve cells, affecting cognitive, perceptual and motor functions, as well as causing chronic pain. Pain management is influenced by several factors, including the psychological state of the patient. Psychological variables such as locus of control and self-efficacy play an important role in the experience of pain. Neurodegenerative diseases also lead to a wide range of psychological and social problems. Chronic pain in these conditions affects daily life, increasing the need for comprehensive pain management strategies that take into account the psychological and behavioural aspects of the patient.
