Abstract

India is a nation which is famous all over the world for its unique cultural and religious diversities. Here various religions, cultures and ideologies meet, which makes it a rich and diverse society. Jainism has an important place in Indian society, which has had a profound influence not only on Indian culture but also on Indian philosophy and ethics. The principles of Jainism such as non-violence, non-possession, and truth provide a moral direction to Indian society. The contribution of the great Acharya of Jainism, Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri Maharaj, was very important in expanding this religion as well as in the cultural and social upliftment of Indian society. His life was not limited to religious practice only, but he was also a social reformer and a great thinker, who made continuous efforts to bring about change in the society through his works.
