Economic And Educational Status Of Muslims In Manipur

Abstract

The paper undertakes a comprehensive study of theeconomic and educational statusof Muslims in Manipur. The paper is unique in the sense that it is designed to studythe most understudied community of Manipur with a particular emphasis onunderstanding inequalities and deprivation of the community in the state. Theeconomic problems of Muslims are not much different from economic problems ofother communities in the state. However, poverty plays an important role indepriving Manipuri Muslims economically and educationally. The paper emphasizesthe role of the State in taking initiatives and in implementing policies andprogrammes as a response to the demands of the Manipuri Muslims.
